Project Description

The 60,000 SF building is designed to accommodate a student body of 300 students (20 students per classroom) in grades PK-6. The design responds well to moderate future growth, with each classroom space designed with enough room for up to 25 students. The school includes 15 classrooms, art classroom, music classroom, media center, gymnasium, computer classroom, and small group meeting rooms.

This school shares a site with Holy Cross Catholic Church and shares several spaces with the church including the social hall / cafeteria, kitchen, mechanical/electrical space, storage, custodial space, and circulation space.

Zerr Berg Architects conducted several studies and received input from staff and administration while designing the facility. The need to keep the estimated cost within the budget was of utmost importance. The building and grounds are master planned, allowing additional classroom space for programs to be added in the future without affecting the core facilities.

Efficiency in the mechanical and electrical systems was an important aspect of the design process. The facility utilizes a high efficiency boiler for heating and cooling. All interior and exterior materials selections were made based on reliable materials such as concrete block and brick in the high-traffic areas. Low VOC paints, thermally efficient windows and efficient light fixtures are all items specified on this project.
